Bring: Yoga Mat, Water, Warm Layers.

About Goats as therapy: Research indicates that interaction with therapy animals can temporarily affect the release of various neurotransmitters in the brain. Oxytocin levels (linked with bonding) and dopamine levels (involved in the reward-motivation system) are increased, while cortisol levels (an immunosuppressant associated with stress) are decreased.

Are there Restrooms: Yes

Are there hand sanitizers: Yes

Are there Refunds: No unless class is cancelled due to weather

What type of yoga: All skills level vinyasa

Do I have to participate in Yoga: No you can sit on your mat and snuggle with goats

Can I bring family members to take pictures: No. Unless they want to pay for class to ensure we have the perfect ratio of goats to human and everyone gets goat time.

How Long is event: Goat yoga is 30-45 min, followed by Goat happy hour, Cider (and hot toddies!) and pumpkin painting.

Do your goats bite or headbutt: No.

Will they nibble at your zippers/buttons? Yes, but they’ve never destroyed anything. They’ve also never headbutted a human before. They just want to be pet and cuddled.

Do the goats poop all over you: Goats have small pellets, and from time to time they do poop on your mat. It’s not messy and all you have to do is shake off your mat. It doesn’t happen all that often, but it does happen. We have to remember they are not dogs or cats but farm animals and they’re just doing their thing.

Do you force your goats to participate: No. The goats are not forced to stand on your back or do tricks. Our classes are not a required performance for them. The goats genuinely just prefer to be by humans and all they really want is to be pet and receive affection.

Is this a form of animal assisted therapy: Yes. The focus of this class is not just to take pictures for Instagram. The focus is to combine nature, goats and yoga in order to disconnect with the stresses of life. Combining those three things is very therapeutic and works as a happy distraction from whatever you may be going through, whether that be depression, stress, disease, disabilities or anything.

Will there be media: The media may come out to film the event. You are under no obligation to be filmed. Each class is required to sign a media release form.

What is goat happy hour: Goat Happy Hour is the hour following the class where you get to snuggle goats, take goat selfies and have some fun with yoga poses alongside goats! We call it Goat Happy Hour because that’s how everyone leaves HAPPY!

Are your goats certified therapy animals: No

Can Kids come: Yes kids are welcome age 13 under for $15 to pet goats. drink cider and paint pumpkins.

Are the goats in a separate area while class is happening: No, the goats will be free to wander and snuggle up next to you.

About the popularity of yoga:

A 2012 report of the National Institutes of Health National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) states that yoga is the “Most Used Mind and Body Practice,” with 21 million (9.5 percent) of American adults practicing yoga. This was up from 13 million adults in a 2007 study. The 2012 report also cites that 1.7 million American children practice yoga, also up from 2007. The NCCIH website further states that “In people with chronic low-back pain, a carefully adapted set of yoga poses may reduce pain and improve function. Like other forms of regular exercise, yoga may have health benefits such as reducing stress and improving overall physical fitness, strength, and flexibility.”

About Storm Run Farm:

The farm is a family operated farm by Jesse, Emily, Hagan, and the newest member Hartlyn Smith. Jesse and Emily both grew up on a farm and plan for Hagan and Hartlyn to grow up with the land as they did. Our grandparents and parents taught us at a young age to encourage people to learn about our food production. Emily’s grandfather used to host field days, hay rides, and simple visits to anyone interested in the farm, even if they were not involved in agriculture. Growing up with the passion to raise and give back has given us the same passion.  We are committed to a sustainable future in agriculture.
