What year did you first start practicing yoga?

Was there any particular reason you started practicing yoga?
I was in 7th grade and yoga sounded cool and exotic to me at the time.

Favorite posture and why?
Dragon Pose in the Yin practice. I like the subtle intensity and heat. I like the contrast of finding relaxation and ease in body, breath, and mind when intense sensations present themselves.

Why do you currently practice this yoga?
It helps me to stay present with myself. I like the nuances of the different styles and different classes. Each new teacher, each new class, each new style shows me different ways of seeing what I thought I knew. I like the surprise and beauty in that. As a whole, yoga helps me strengthen myself mentally and physically and offers me tools and techniques to be relaxed and grounded no matter what is happening in my life.

What do you love about teaching yoga?
I love the energy of people coming together to do something positive and supportive for themselves. It inspires me to learn about each student to know what’s going on in their lives and how I can offer support for them in the yoga practice that will help them in their life off the mat.

Two things most people don’t know about you? 
I play the harmonium (pretty badly and I don’t care because I like it so much) and I am an amateur swing dancer.
