What year did you first start practicing yoga?
Summer 2012

Was there any particular reason you started practicing yoga?
My mom had been doing it for years and always raved about it, and finally got me to try it. I was interested for the fitness aspect of it and to maintain flexibility while doing everything else I do fitness-wise, but then it became much more than that.

Favorite posture and why?
Toe stand. I think it takes the most focus for me, and I like the moment of silence and stillness right at the very end, right before you hit the floor to start the floor series. It’s also one that I can’t do the full expression of all the time, so it’s rewarding on the days I hit it, but not discouraging when I don’t.

Why do you currently practice this yoga?
I still practice for the fitness aspect of it. It helps me remain flexible, and is great for injury prevention with running, lifting, etc., and I love to sweat. I also practice because it is a time I can focus on myself and forget everything outside of the room. My mind moves a mile a minute, and it really helps relax and just be in the present moment.

What do you love about teaching yoga?
I love that I can share something that I am so passionate about with so many people. I love that everyone is there for different reasons, and how therapeutic it can be for both body and mind. I really enjoy getting to know everyone that comes into the studio, and it is very rewarding to guide others through an experience that can be a very important part of their day, for whatever reason.

Two things most people don’t know about you?
I can’t stand cotton balls.  I could live off carrots and peanut butter.
